Lower Taxes, Less Spending: Inside Arizona’s Budget
Published 24 days ago • 2 min read
Dear LD25 Friends,
This week at the Capitol, House Republicans continued delivering on what matters most to Arizona families: lowering costs, strengthening our economy, and keeping government accountable.
In a time when families are feeling pressure from rising expenses, we are focused on real solutions that provide relief, protect opportunity, and keep Arizona one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family.
Cost-of-Living Relief for Arizona Families
One of our top priorities has been putting money back in your pocket. Our budget plan includes significant tax relief, including a $1.45 billion income tax cut over the next four years. We are also increasing the standard deduction, eliminating taxes on tips and overtime, expanding the child tax credit, and creating new deductions for childcare expenses.
For working families, seniors, and small business owners, these changes mean more financial flexibility and greater opportunity to get ahead. Most importantly, we ensured taxpayers will not be forced to refile returns, providing certainty during tax season.
Protecting Taxpayers and Ending Wasteful Spending
We are also taking a hard look at how taxpayer dollars are spent. House Republicans have worked to eliminate wasteful programs and end special-interest subsidies that do not serve the public.
This includes repealing outdated funding schemes, cutting unnecessary government programs, and rejecting costly green energy tax credits that shift the burden onto taxpayers.
At the same time, we are prioritizing fiscal discipline by spending $800 million less than the Governor’s proposed budget and reducing overall government growth.
Supporting Public Safety and Strong Communities
Keeping Arizona safe remains a core responsibility. This budget provides additional support for correctional officers and ensures that our Department of Public Safety has the resources needed to protect our communities.
We are also continuing targeted investments that directly support families and vulnerable populations, including childcare assistance, foster care support, and resources for crime victims.
Strengthening Opportunity for Every Arizonan
Beyond immediate relief, we are focused on long-term opportunity. That means protecting school choice, supporting working families, and ensuring that government remains efficient and accountable.
We are making responsible, targeted investments in education, child safety, and services for those with the greatest needs, while keeping spending under control and avoiding unnecessary tax increases.
This is what responsible governing looks like: helping those who need it most while ensuring taxpayers are respected.

Arizona is strong because of its people. Our goal is simple: create an environment where families can thrive, businesses can grow, and future generations have even greater opportunities than we do today.
Thank you for staying engaged and informed. I am proud of the work we are doing and look forward to continuing to deliver results for you.
Sincerely, Michael Carbone Majority Leader Arizona House of Representatives

We take this responsibility very seriously because we respect you, your families, and your hard-earned money. At its core, this discussion is about priorities: how we spend taxpayer dollars, how we protect essential services, and how we ensure Arizona remains financially strong for the future. This is not just...
Dear LD25 Friends, Energy policy has quickly become one of the most important issues at the Capitol this session. As Arizona continues to grow, the demand for reliable, affordable power is increasing, and the decisions we make today will shape our economy, our grid, and our quality of life for years to come. Concerns regarding the Governor's energy plan's direction have recently been voiced. Specifically, utility-scale solar installations on state territory are heavily emphasized in the...
Dear LD25 Friends, In my last email, I shared concerns about the growing influence of social media on our children and the need for greater accountability from Big Tech. I appreciate the strong response and thoughtful feedback many of you have provided so far. Keep it coming! One thing is for sure: it is clear this issue is not only timely, but deeply personal for families across Arizona. Since then, the conversation has only continued to grow. More parents, educators, and community members...
